WASHINGTON, August 5. /Basereporter.com/. The US President Donald trump once again called to the world trade organization (WTO) “universal disaster” and criticized their predecessors. With this statement he made to supporters in Ohio.
“Only Ohio lost more than 200 thousand jobs in the industrial sector, since China joined the WTO. The WTO is a universal calamity” – said the American leader.
Trump has again criticized American politicians for their actions in the economic sphere. “For many decades our politicians have allowed other countries to steal our jobs, Rob our wealth and the economy, – said the head of state. – I don’t think that for the most part they deliberately did it. They just did not know and did not understand what they do”.
Trump was repeatedly subjected to WTO criticism. So, in April, he wrote on Twitter that the WTO, giving preferences to China, behaves unjustly towards US. In early June, at a meeting of his Cabinet trump called “disaster” Agreement North American free trade area (NAFTA) and the WTO. The White house also said that Washington will seek to reform this organization.
As reported by the June 29 online edition of the Axios with reference to the persons who participated in discussions of US trade policy, the President repeatedly told his advisers about the desire to withdraw US from WTO members. The world trade organization was established on 1 January 1995 on the basis of the General agreement on tariffs and trade, signed in 1947. Its members include more than 160 States in 2012 to WTO Russia joined. The headquarters of the organization is located in Geneva.
