KIEV, August 6. /Basereporter.com/. The prohibition of railway communication with Russia, which consider options in Kiev, forcing the Ukrainians to travel in transit via Belarus.

“In fact, what we see on the situation with traffic when we closed aviabilety in the Russian Federation and the Russian aircraft flying over the territory of Ukraine, the passenger traffic has not declined. Some began to fly through Minsk, but the number of those who flew to Russia is much reduced,” he said in answer to the question of the Agency “Ukrainian news” about a possible change to a direct route.
The Minister also acknowledged that he cannot say the exact number of people whose interests are affected by the open transport communications. “We have a few trains of the Ukrainian formation. In absolute numbers while you can’t tell,” he said.
Earlier on Monday, Omelyan confirmed that the relevant agencies of Ukraine continue to consider the option of termination of railway communication with Russia. The authorities are ready to take this step despite the fact that three of the five most profitable from a commercial point of view trains of the company “Ukrzaliznytsia” (“Ukrainian Railways”) is going to Russia.
At the end of 2017, the Minister of infrastructure has already acted with the similar initiative. Then he expressed the hope that “Ukrzaliznytsia” will review its policy and would ban. In addition, Omeljan in the same context, promised to “have a conversation” and bus carriers.
According to “Ukrzaliznytsia”, the routes to Russia were the most profitable for the Railways of Ukraine for the past year. In the first place was the train Kiev – Moscow, which fetched $5.8 million followed by the direction Odessa – Moscow ($3.7 million). The five most profitable also got the train Kiev – St. Petersburg ($0.8 million) and only two domestic flights from Kyiv to Odessa and Lviv.
