Basereporter.com August 8. EU regulators plan to consider the need for mandatory transition to the single port for charging mobile devices. This was reported Monday by Reuters.
“In connection with unsatisfactory results of the voluntary approach [to move to a single charging devices] the Commission will consider the effectiveness of other measures”, – quotes Agency the words of the representative of the European Union.
According to the Agency, the European Commission for almost ten years, insists on the adoption of this measure. In response to government pressure in 2009, 14 companies, including Apple, Samsung, Huawei and Nokia have signed an agreement on the voluntary introduction of a common charger for mobile phones. However, some companies subsequently withdrew from the agreement, the statement said.
The transition to the charging devices of a single type will help in ensuring the convenience of users, and is also useful for reducing e-waste. It is noted that IPhone and Android users for a long time complain of the use of different chargers for their gadgets.
