MOSCOW, August 13. /Basereporter.com/. The position of power, which stands a number of American politicians, distorts their minds, and belief in the exceptionalism of the American nation can play with them a bad joke.
Such opinion on Monday was expressed by the head of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Konstantin Kosachev.
Commenting on their page Facebook the next statements of the American senators-Republican Lindsey Graham about the need for Russia to change its policy to normalize relations with the US, Kosachev noted the conviction of a member of Congress in the infallibility of Washington and the lack of a “necessary critical self-examination of American foreign policy and its consequences, from the creative to the destructive.”
According to Americans, says Kosachev, Russia needs “to confess armed occupation of Crimea in 2014, of meddling in the election of [U.S. President] in 2016, compliance with the Convention on the prohibition of chemical weapons and, accordingly, the poisoning Skrobala in 2018, and at the same time in violation of the Treaty on intermediate and shorter-range missiles of 1987”.
“The problem of the current generation of American hawks in that they are measures and trying to change the world by themselves and for themselves. Apparently, they would have behaved exactly as demand from Russia, if it was something weaker and somewhat dependent,” – says the head of the Committee. According to him, “the position of the powerful of this world distorts the minds of many politicians and plays with it a bad joke”.
“Apparently, these politicians really believed in the exceptionalism of the American nation, as believed in the exceptionalism of their Nations, many of their predecessors in the first half of the twentieth century, and much earlier in the history of mankind. Was passed. Know how that inevitably pumped,” stated Kosachev. However, he assured that Russia “different understanding of the world order” in which “each nation has an equal right to the strength of the nation and independence in defending their own interests.”
“But is the power really in truth. And to incriminate himself in order to appeal to Mr. Graham and his associates at sanctions, Russia will not be exactly. Not wait”, – concluded the Senator.
Earlier, the U.S. Congress was presented a bill that toughens sanctions against the Russian Federation. One of the authors of the document were made by Graham. In addition, the US administration announced that from August 22 intends to introduce new restrictive measures against Russia because of Moscow attributed to involvement in the poisoning in Britain of former GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia.
