The Russian foreign Ministry recommends Russians to be cautious when visiting the English area of Salisbury, because they can become the object of attention of the British secret service in connection with the investigation of incidents in Salisbury and Amesbury. This was stated by the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova at a briefing on Thursday.

“Given the fact that the investigation has not been completed, and taking into account the unwinding of the British authorities’ version about the Russian involvement in these incidents [in Salisbury and Amesbury], we cannot exclude the fact that Russian tourists visiting the area, with high probability, can unexpectedly appear in the field of view of British intelligence, to become the object of their attention,” said the diplomat. She also pointed out that the nearby military facility, the UK Ministry of defence – chemical laboratory Porton Down.

“We would encourage the citizens to plan travel routes, exercise caution and stock up on phones of the Russian diplomatic consular missions in the UK in case they may be needed. All contact information is on our websites,” Zakharova recalled.
