Experts: the sale of beer in Russia in I half-year has decreased, despite holding the 2018 world Cup


MOSCOW, August 1. / Retail sales of beer and beer drinks in the first half of 2018, according to the Russian decreased by 3.26% to 320,09 million dal.

This is stated in the message of the National Union of consumer rights protection.

The results of the second quarter, Russia experienced growth in retail sales of beer products by 3.49% compared to the second quarter of 2017, while in the first quarter – a drop of 10.6%. Thus, the experts said, according to the USAIS, on sales of beer and beer drinks almost not affected the holding of world football championship-2018.

“Instead of the expected growth of beer sales reporting in the Russian retail networks, shows a decrease. This indicate the need for improvement of accounting of production and turnover and the introduction of labelling of brewery products,” commented data the Chairman of the National Union of protection of consumer rights Pavel Shapkin.

The ban on the sale of beer in stadiums is valid in Russia since 2005. On the basis of the Federal law of the International football Federation (FIFA) was allowed to sell beer on public concession stands of the stadiums during the world Cup in 2018 before and during each match, as well as in the framework of festivals fans across the 11 who took the tournament cities.

National Union of consumer protection noted in particular that according to the Russian in Moscow, where there were 12 matches of the championship, in January – June has sold 23.4 million decaliters of beer, up by 5.66 per cent below the level of the first half of 2017. In Saint-Petersburg (seven matches) in the first six months sold 10.3 million decaliters of beer (down 1.84 percent). The largest decline in sales was recorded in the Republic of Tatarstan, where there were six matches on 71,05%, to 7.89 million dal of beer.

Also, the decline in sales was observed in Nizhny Novgorod (by 16.4%, to 7.5 million dal), Rostov (1.2%, to 6.5 million decaliters) and Volgograd (0.01%, 4,38 million dal), which hosted the matches of the 2018 world Cup.

In a number of regions in the first half of the year recorded an increase in sales. So, in the Kaliningrad region, where he had four match of the championship, sold 1.53 million dal of beer and beer drinks that by 6.82% more than in the same period last year. In the Krasnodar region (six matches) sold 10.2 million dal of beer (an increase of 5.58%), in Mordovia (four games) – sold 1.6 million dal (an increase of 23.16%).

In the Samara region, which hosted six matches of the championship sold 9 million dal of beer (an increase of 8.8%), Sverdlovsk region (after four matches) – 13,57 million dal (an increase of 0.2%).

Earlier, the national Union for the protection of the rights of consumers reported that beer production in Russia in June 2018, which accounted for the opening of the soccer world Cup, grew by 8.7% compared to June 2017, but the rate may 2018 has been falling by 9.3%. In June, Russia produced 39 million decalitres of beer, and by the end of the first half – 386 million decaliters – by 1.2% more than in the same period last year, said the Union.
